London is one of those iconic cities that never gets old. I’ve been twice in the last few years and I’m already planning another trip for late summer or early fall. If you have two days to sneak away this is the perfect trip for you that is basically free other than a few things! I also have a longer itinerary if you have more time or an itinerary if you are taking your children. It’s also an easy city to non-rev in and out of since there are so many daily flights from the U.S, but just beware the taxes are high. Most depart between 6–8 PM and arrive early to mid-morning the next day. If you’re lucky enough to snag a business class lie-flat seat, you can hit the ground running and easily fit this into a long weekend. Here’s my perfect non-rev trip to London for market lovers that will cost you almost nothing to visit.
Where to Stay for Market Lovers
I’ve stayed in a few different areas in London, but I think the perfect place to stay is the DoubleTree by Hilton Tower of London. The location is prime and within walking distance of so much. You’re just steps from the Tower of London and the Tower Hill Tube station, making it incredibly easy to get around the city. The property itself is lovely, and if you’re a Hilton Diamond member, they offer great perks like lounge access with complimentary drinks and light hors d’oeuvres. The rooms are spacious by European standards, and the rooftop terrace has beautiful views that shouldn’t be missed. London also has several adorable boutique hotels, which you can find here.

Must-Visit London Markets for Non-Rev Travelers
There are so many iconic things to see and do, but these are my must-not-miss stops for market lovers in London:
Schedule for Market Lovers
Here’s the schedule I follow when I go to London. This is perfect for the non-revver who only has a couple of days and loves markets.
After you land and clear customs, follow the signs for trains. Look for the Elizabeth Line, which stops at Terminals 2, 3, 4, and 5 at London Heathrow — just follow the purple signs. It runs about every 15 minutes and takes roughly 45 minutes to reach the city. You don’t need to pre-book — just tap and go. If you want a faster option, you can take the Heathrow Express, but it’s almost double the cost. I highly recommend getting an eSIM (we use this one) and using Google Maps with public transportation directions so you know exactly which stop to exit.
Drop your bags at your hotel if they’ll store them, or use Bounce luggage storage, because we have a busy evening ahead. The best remedy for jet lag is fresh air and sunshine.
After dropping your bags, head straight to Borough Market where you can grab a delicious coffee to help wake you up while strolling the market. I highly recommend bringing a bag to carry any goodies you find along the way. My Longchamp bag is my favorite because it’s easy to pack, holds a ton, and still looks classy.
If you started in Tower of London, you will have walked across the London Bridge. Make sure that you snap a photo of the Tower Bridge, which is the iconic bridge in London, from across the Thames. While at Borough grab some lunch or early dinner depending on your flight arrival time, but make sure you try the viral strawberries with chocolate-you can thank me later! And remember calories don’t count on vacation especially when you are going to be walking so much.
After Borough Market, walk along the Thames and enjoy the street performers. If you stay out until sunset, you’ll see Tower Bridge lit up along with some of the best views in the city. It’s the perfect low-stress first night when you’re non-revving and just want to soak it all in.
Day 2
Today is all about gardens and shopping. Start your morning at Kensington Gardens, which are especially beautiful in the spring. Make sure to stop at the Albert Memorial, the Italian Gardens, and the Peter Pan statue. From there, head into Hyde Park to visit the Serpentine Galleries and the Princess Diana Memorial Fountain.
Continue on to Kensington Palace. There is a fee to go inside, but even viewing the exterior and grounds is worth the stop. Afterward, head to Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guard before making your way to Harrods for lunch.
Harrods is one of the coolest places I’ve visited. It’s massive, and there’s so much to see. I’ve been multiple times and still haven’t seen it all. The food halls feature beautiful displays and some of the most unique foods. During Easter, they even have hand-painted chocolate eggs. After exploring the food hall, wander through the different displays. My favorite section is Jo Malone, and don’t miss the fabrics — even if you don’t sew, they’re incredibly intricate and beautiful.
While you’re there, stop at the Prada Café for coffee and chocolate. They might have the prettiest cappuccinos. Harrods also has rooftop bars with views of the city, which are especially nice around sunset. I could personally wander Harrods for hours.
f you still have time, head to Covent Garden to search for a vintage Burberry. Check It Vintage can feel overwhelming, but if you’re willing to dig, you might find the perfect coat. My friend found a beautiful Burberry for an amazing price.
For dinner, head to Mercato Mayfair, a food market inside a stunning old church. If you want a fun drink beforehand, don’t miss Farm Shop, which is just down the street, make sure you head downstairs for the cutest little space. Mercato also has drinks, but this spot is especially charming.

While at Mercato, try the viral pasta (if you’re not gluten-free). If you are gluten-free, head upstairs for the grass-fed flank steak. It’s incredibly tender and comes with crisps. Seating can be difficult, but I suggest heading upstairs where the views are better. It is not uncommon for people to loiter waiting for a spot to open up so be ready to grab a table as people finish up.
After dinner, take a walk to see Big Ben lit up at night. London is especially magical after dark and this is the perfect way to end your trip. From there, head back to your hotel and rest up for your flight home. Just make sure to stay aware of your surroundings and keep a close eye on your phone, especially in crowded areas.
